What tariffs? Weren't you and your mates saying the other week there would be no tariffs?

You're changing your tune as you desperately try to find some glimmer of hope to cling to from the wreckage of the lies you were duped into believing.

Thank goodness excellent public transport infrastructure exists to take up the slack when all those road users leave the tarmac.

Well I think the EU Commission is going down the hard route so tariffs it will be.

As for desperate. Good luck with that. And as for the lies I was duped into believing. Has it ever occurred to you that people have actually wanted to leave for years? I don't know anyone who was swayed by any arguments. Maybe a couple who were put off remain by the moaner's threats though.

I have said before, for me it was more about sovereignty. I would happily have movement associated with trade but the Commission is intent on its 'four freedoms'. They have little care for the damage it will do to eu workers.

        You sound rather bitter.

          Personally I think it's a good thing.

The UK has for far too long being living of the kindness of others. Germans gave us cars. We gave them a bit of paper in return.

We consume to much and produce to little. A collapse in the value of sterling was inevitable and it is a requirement to re-balance the economy away from over-consumption towards a more sustainable future.

On aggregate the UK population won't be able to buy as much stuff as before. If we want to maintain our life-styles then we'll have to shift away from being consumers to becoming savers. Away from being retailers to becoming makers.

It's not impossible, it will take at least a decade.

Government will need to play an active role in ensuring the upheaval is minimised. Some spending on infrastructure is coming down the line.

Luckily they can borrow at record low-levels.

Exactly. £0.70/€ and we'll be on the mend.

Can't imagine interest rates staying so low, however, when our international debtors start demanding more returns on our debt.

They cannot "Demand" more return on the current levels of debt. They can demand a higher return for future debts.

If they are currently holding sterling then it's worth what it's worth. They can sell it, hold it or buy more. If they are holding bonds or gilts then those are already paying an interest rate which cannot be varied.

When the government makes its next issue of gilts the international investing community can refuse to buy them.

                Well said

A good read. And whilst you might jest I do feel my identity being eroded in circumstance beyond my control. It's terribly sad this situation could occur in the circumstances in which it did.

I'm being stripped of my citizenship – along with 65 million others

"That's because a Government supported by only 20% of UK adults got to have total control of the UK Parliament on the basis of FPTP, (and even being down to just 1 seat in a large constituent part of the UK), having an unelected PM who stated a decade ago that Brown had no democratic right to be PM as he was appointed on the same basis; and her government is largely comprised of people who admitted lying to the UK citizenship during the recent referendum. It is a coup d'etat that would make numerous dictators blush and the thought of how they had grabbed power. Now she intends (with no other opinion to be allowed within her government, and especially not Parliament) to move the UK even further to the right than it was under the obnoxious Osborne, whilst proclaiming "This won't hurt."

I think we need a new superlative, because hyperbolic doesn't really cut it.

Insightful as a tangent you are, never quite getting to the point.
