Being outside the EU rules and regulations will also bring opportunities in finance, and those other World leading financial centres understand all too well.Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostAbsolutely and London will also do well, just with somewhat less business:

Well isn't the point that because the UK had passporting rights to the EU, it had the edge on those other financial centres, since it had access to markets they didn't?Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostBeing outside the EU rules and regulations will also bring opportunities in finance, and those other World leading financial centres understand all too well.

You really do have these bees in your bonnet don't you? My kids are doing just fine. Unlike you, none of them are weedy enough to fail the medical for the Salvation Army either. From what I've heard today, off-shoring will be reduced longer term, with more UK-based work. Gives the waiters and linen washers someone to look after, doesn't it?Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostAbsolutely and London will also do well, just with somewhat less business:

To be fair, the German manufacturing industry didn't spend the 1970's huddling round a fiery dustbin, and spent the time somewhat constructively, designing cars that people wanted to buy. We spent the brief period when the workers were actually working building the Vauxhall Viva (badly), and the Austin Allegro (really, really badly), and the rest of the world still haven't stopped laughing.Originally posted by CretinWatcher View PostWe still have to sell things to the rest of the world and eat.
Germany manages to keep its proletariat gainfully employed through manufacturing and has twin surpluses.
