Christ, you really are deluded. His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain... -
Its funny to see you post a link that very clearly shows the political power the UK has within the EU.Originally posted by vetran View Post
Our political power gives us thing not even legally agreed...
- Stops the Eu using the EFSM to bail out countries
- The rebate
- The power to veto treaties
- The power to veto budgets
- The power to stop any miltary integration we don't want
- The power to leave the EU whenever we choose
Yet the outters say we have lost our sovereignty... The outters say we have no democracy... The outters say we have no powers...
All clearly bulltulip
We are being taken out based on lies by the outters. Its a dam shame.Last edited by dx4100; 15 June 2016, 12:03.Comment

Most, but not necessarily all, EU Treaties absolutely supercede national legislation. I seem to remember that was one of the problems with the Lisbon Treaty, that Brownio had to sign in secret. In that respect, the EU is effectively saying to all member nations "you're my bitch now. Bendy over, and try not to cry..."Originally posted by Old Greg View PostSo what do you think is the legal situation if the UK Parliament repeals the European Communities Act 1972 and all related subsequent legislation? His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...Comment

Well of course it does... It would be pointless otherwise... It obviously only supersedes the issues it covers...Originally posted by Mordac View PostMost, but not necessarily all, EU Treaties absolutely supercede national legislation. You don't get this treaties lark do you. How could it be any other way ? Its multinational agreements. Trade deals work the same way....Comment

Any supremacy of European Law over UK law derives - in the UK - from the European Communities Act 1972. So the repeal of the European Communities Act 1972 by the UK Parliament (and potentially related subsequent acts such as the European Union (Amendment) Act 2008 which instituted the Lisbon Treaty) negates those powers.Originally posted by Mordac View PostMost, but not necessarily all, EU Treaties absolutely supercede national legislation. Read my reply to OG in context. He was suggesting that the UK Parliament could, if it so wished, simply repeal an Act, and I was saying that it can't. Treaties, as a general rule, take precedence.Originally posted by dx4100 View PostWell of course it does... It would be pointless otherwise... It obviously only supersedes the issues it covers...

No it's not, because treaties are instituted by Act of Parliament and those Acts can themselves be repealed.Originally posted by dx4100That is true...Comment
