I thought you gave up because you are clearly wrong. The UK Parliament can repeal all Acts and negate any transfer of powers. Whether the UK is subsequently ejected from the EU is irrelevant to that truth.Originally posted by Mordac View PostQuite. He'll never get it though, which is why I gave up arguing the toss with him. Some people will continually insist that black isn't black, it's just a very dark shade of white...

It was never used....Originally posted by LondonManc View PostThe promise to not include us in bail outs was gained in writing in 2013. EU tore it up in 2015 when they needed our £600m of help to bail Greece out in 2015. They cannot be trusted, simple as that.Comment

LIESOriginally posted by DimPrawn View PostAnd that is only because the Lisbon treaty added a clause allowing member states to leave. Before that it was illegal to leave.
That is the only right we have in the EU, to leave. We can't legally pick and choose EU laws. If you are in, you are in, and whatever is thrust upon you, you have to abide by.Comment

There would be no mechanism whereby it would be illegal for the UK Parliament to repeal the European Communities Act, 1972, and such a law would mean the UK was not in the EU, so in UK law it has always been legal to leave the EU through the repeal of the Act.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostAnd that is only because the Lisbon treaty added a clause allowing member states to leave. Cameron tried to negotiate terms for us to stay. The EU told him to feck right off.Originally posted by Old Greg View PostWhat we should do is shape what Leave looks like in advance of a referendum. Or have a two stage referendum, 1st to negotiate the Out settlement, and then to decide. Then I may well be pro-Leave too.
If they wouldn't negotiate us staying, which they all claim is the desired result, what chance do you think there is of them negotiating our leaving?Comment
