In my experience, PM's don't like people who know what they are doing, because it makes it harder to blame for their own failure and therefore get rid on grounds of incompetence. HR will never buy the " he might be a serial killer" line. HR are muppets, at the best of times, as we all know, but even they can smell horsecrap from a hundred paces.

True, but if you are going to call a PM out you need to be able to work around him and be beyond reproach... Suity failed on both points as evidenced by his admission that he failed to delivery what was asked for (which lets be honest cannot be a surprise to anyone here)...

One has to wonder about the PM's approach to risk and issue management to get so far down the track and have Suity fiddling with code in the wee hours.

You have someone to blame and know the blame game kicks off in 5 weeks time. Do you

            a) tulip can him now and cop the blame for not delivering
            b) leave him in situ, quietly document his flaws and ensure the evidence is there for him to carry the blame....

I've certainly been here. The meeting: 'Time to decide' the result: A deafening silence. And then a voice from the Manager. So Scooter what do you think we should do?

              Run and hide mother F.

There's nothing worse in this world than a incompetent manager whose got there via the company gravy train as some reward to service over the years.

                c) Bin him off, blame him for everything after he's gone, ensuring that he has no right to reply, while apologising for not realising he was "like that" earlier on.

Very insightful. He was a lifer, so was his never present B.A. I often wondered if he felt he was untouchable, and just came in and left on time regardless. He as also a pathological liar. I mean I think he may have had some screws loose.

I delivered what I could, given the dross I had to work with.
