To be fair, it was probably with some justification.

      ...

So I worked hard, delivered some sort of project in spite of him and the slackjawed permies, and all the thanks I got (after the successful golive) was a knife between the shoulderblades.
So you failed to deliver what they wanted yet can't understand why that resulted in them tulipcanning you early...

And you still haven't grasped why I was happier to bin a website rather than have you anywhere near it....

Oh no, I can understand it. I worked my socks off, like I said. The rest of the team clocked in and out with spectacular regularity. I appealed to the PM to take things seriously, but he felt that he had set the bar quite high and had some room to de-scope come the end of the project, which he did.

I cannot take the wrap for a bad organisation.

The OP sounded like he came on here from some comfort, and I thought I could help with this anecdote, knowing full well that you would come crawling out of the woodwork. I could have knocked up your silly little wordpress effort web site in a couple of hours.

Were you there? Did you know the PM? How do you make this assumption? Remember, hollow vessels make a lot of noise.

Perhaps the rest of the team managed their workload and time well, with no need for "heroic" hours and associated dramatic tales. Just a thought.

You are Robin Deakin and I claim my five free punches. (though sounds like only one is needed)

Alas not I'm afraid. Most of my long evenings were spent un****ing schoolboy errors in code. How can you check code in to TFS, say a SQL query for example, with misspelled table names and missing commas? This happened frequently, and I reported it to the PM who being everyone's mate didn't want to upset anyone so made a "matey" comment at one of his epic standup marathon meetings. It continued and the project was all the worse for the low code quality.
