Not just about EU immigration, that from outside is still slightly higher and generally more of a problem.
The current barriers to residence are far too low. With some exceptions where there are major shortages, skills requirements and salary needs to be set much higher. Working migrants do expand the GDP but also add similarly to the population so there is no increase in what matters, GDP per capita of our citizens. They also put obvious pressures on our limited resources. We can't possibly expand our schools/houses/infrastructure etc. to cope with the rise in population. Some resources, like our countryside, are finite.
Those applying also need to understand and undertake to comply with our laws and major principles. Police don't always have the resources to attend a burglary so why should they have to tackle things like FGM, forced marriage or torturing kids to drive our evil spirits? Why should we have to spend money on tackling Islamic extremism promoted by foreign imams?
The best way to tackle racism is by addressing real concerns, by ensuring as far as possible that the migrants we do get are seen to be useful people. People also need to feel in control of their own destinies, not dictated to by unelected people they know nothing about. The growth of the far right across Europe is largely a result of too many decades of lax immigration policies and impositions by an undemocratic EU:
