Brexit won't stop EU migration

Unlike the last time Germany hasn't invaded them with Panzers and shows no signs of wanting to.
If they don't like it they are perfectly free to leave the Euro, the Eurozone, the EU, whatever.
I don't really buy this German wish for hegemony stuff - anyone who does business and travels there knows this complete bollux. If anything they are rather reluctant and very sensitive about the past. They just can't help the fact that their economy is strong.

I also suspect they would rather partner with Britain than France, but France makes the effort and Britain doesn't.

But according to your previous posts the EU will punish the UK for Brexit with punitive trade deals. Doesn't sound like anyone is free to leave.

Interesting, that. Why do you think that might be? It's instructive how the consensus has shifted, when the facts are unchanged. Successful monetary union follows fiscal and political union, not the other way around. Even the Bremainers, many of whom would've seen us in the Eurozone, now accept this flagship policy of the European project as utterly flawed. You do have to wonder about their judgement on these big picture issues.

A trading bloc is perfectly entitled to make the rules. You can't have the benefits without the downsides. But the choice exists whether to join or not.

I don't think conflating support for the Euro versus support for a trading bloc is fair.
FWIW I've never been a fan of the Euro - there are probably posts on this forum that I've made about that years ago.

I'm very much in favour on the EU, but I'm not daft enough to deny migration is a definate problem.

Think my solution if it's possible to negotiate it would to still allow freedom of movement for hols and visits etc, but some sort of permit system for working, sort of cut down Tier 2, like Switzerland has done.

Doubt it would be consdiered but something has to be done to stop everyone shifting off to the current most desirable states. Or maybe abandon this idea of nationhood all together, everyone floods to the UK/France/German etc employment powerhouses to work their three score and ten then bugger off with their pension pots/stuffed matresses to Spain/Italy/Portugal etc to retire in the EU sun....

You said they were free to leave which is very different from having a choice whether to stay or go. The former is without malice. The EU is feeling more like some dodgy paramilitary group.
