Cups are just too small without a pot.

Point of order. Water at 70-90c is not boiling. Water boils at 100c, which is the point at which it should be poured onto the teabag or loose black tea.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostDiscussion on R4 this morning seems to suggest:
Porcelain cup (retains the heat better)
Boiling water (70 - 80c for green tea, 80-90c for black tea)
Milk to go in last (to avoid cooling the water down)
No sugar
And under no circumstances should the bag be left in to brew it stronger (I am looking at you Northern Rail)
Biscuits are optional
And, if brewed in a mug, milk goes in last. If in a pot, milk goes into the cup first.
Should be left to brew for 3-4 minutes. If you want stronger get a stronger blend."Being nice costs nothing and sometimes gets you extra bacon" - Pondlife.Comment

'kin idiot!Originally posted by d000hg View PostThe feel of the cup on your lip makes a big difference too. No idea the science behind that but tea in fine china and tea in a big mug is a different experience, and tea in a paper cup is foul but coffee is relatively unaffected.
If you drink the tulipe that the chains dish out you might be right, in that nothing could make it more execrable than it already is, but the right cup makes a difference with coffee as well.Comment

Bag in first. Make sure the cup is huge. Hot water (wait for off boil so you don't get any scale in). Leave to stew until a crust builds on top. Tea bag out. Sugar. Whole milk - nice and creamy. And lastly microwave for 1min.
Hot, creamy, sweet, strong, and guaranteed to keep you going.Comment

I was served tea in an Indian household once. They make the tea on the stove, with the tea, milk, water, sugar and spices all in the pan. Bring to the boil, simmer for a few minutes.
It didn't taste half bad.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment
