Hahahaha, that is rich. I have yet to have anyone try the "the client expects applicants to have more motivation than money" line on me, but I would totally laugh in their face. -
My questions when called about a gig are
1. where is it
2. Here is my rate will you pay it (or a variation on that theme)Comment

I've had that.Originally posted by SlipTheJab View PostI was once accused of being mercency for telling a pimp that the rate he was offering for a role was too low
Then I told him what a Principal level consultant would be, PD, from the Vendor in the software I specialise in, I then suggested, that in reality, my rate was too cheap

If I use a rec-con and dont tend too much these days, many will not give the exact location until after you have applied, often just the county is given. They do this because if you work in a niche from the general location either I or the competition (who sometimes pose as applicants) could work out who it is and possibly poach the role.
I suspect this is where the recruiter is coming from and the applicant is a bit naive.Last edited by ZARDOZ; 26 February 2016, 13:54.Comment

For each role.Recruiter has 12 candidates
I see the "skills shortage" is real and present as usual. Maybe we could lift all immigration/work permit rules to help these billionaire non-tax resident corporations out here?Comment

I've told the story on here before - agency told me role was "between Leicester and Nottingham" and said they had put my CV forward.Originally posted by ZARDOZ View PostIf I use a rec-con and dont tend too much these days, many will not give the exact location until after you have applied, often just the county is given. After 2 weeks of hearing nothing, another agent approaches me about a different role in Leicester. It was a different role, named client, 5 miles from Leicester. I applied through them and got the role. Once on site the first agent came back to me threatening to sue. I pointed out that they gave me a vague location and it was a different role. I then checked with the client who said they never received my CV from the first agent.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

American companies are sometimes terrible for that. JP Morgan paid no OT and did the whole "work hard, play hard" thing. My boss had to explain the reason recruitment wasn't working too well is that stuff doesn't play very well in Scotland...Originally posted by zeitghostThe funniest one I ever had was the pimp saying that the client wanted commitment from the contractor & wouldn't be paying overtime.
I still don't know why I drove across the country for that interview, it was a complete & utter waste of my time.Comment

LinkedIn is just FB for agents now, all I see these days is the feed full of agent jokes like mocked up picture of an agent sweating with the phrase below 'what you look like when a candidate rings who has accepted and wants more £', and generally that kind of sh*t, or lady agents with there 'look at me I'm so hot and s*xy' profile pic's. I had some respect for some agents at one point but LinkedIn put an end to that.I like big butts and I cannot lie.Comment

I had a similar experience once with an agent claiming exclusivity for a role I'd applied through another agency but they had also submitted me without my permission (scumbag agency had got the interview and stole the role while orginal agent on holiday). CEO of said small scumbag agency rang me up late at night effing and jeffing and legal threats because I wanted to go through the original agent. 6 months later they phoned me again with a new role like nothing had happened I told the cheeky barstewards to feck right off.Originally posted by WTFH View PostI've told the story on here before - agency told me role was "between Leicester and Nottingham" and said they had put my CV forward.
