If Johnson was putting his own interests first, wouldn't his safer option regardless of the likely outcome be to acquiesce with the other conformist cowards and join Cameron?

What on earth would he want to do that for? All it will give him is grief. Much better for him that he goes on the lecture circuit and earns millions.

Although no big fan of Blair, he seems to be positively charismatic in comparison to Cameron who always seems to come across as somewhat smarmy hence I wonder whether he'd be able to pull off the milking the lecture circuit. Let's be clear, Cameron and the Conservatives benefitted from a woeful opposition against Brown & subsequently Miliband, not because they were necessarily any good.

Unfortunately politics in general is suffering from every bugger having tried to occupy the centre ground over the last few elections. We could do with some plausible alternatives.

Thank God Camoron is not charismatic - he'd otherwise get massive majority and we'd be paying 90% income taxes!
