Where's the war in Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, France, or any of the other countries that they come through to get to the Channel?Originally posted by seanraaron View PostFor a refugee fleeing war in fear for their lives? No.Comment

I don't know what the Mail has written on the subject today, but the number of refugees Britain takes in is pretty small. It's also pretty hard to get here given you have to cross through many other countries which have started closing their borders, so those refugees that do come here are arriving through agencies. Believe it or not there are international conventions Britain is signatory to which require taking a share of refugees globally.Originally posted by meridian View PostWhere's the war in Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, France, or any of the other countries that they come through to get to the Channel?

So why so many Africans fleeing Syria, don't you think that's oddOriginally posted by seanraaron View PostFor a refugee fleeing war in fear for their lives? No.
How do you know they are fleeing for their livesSocialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.
No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

The Africans are arguably economic migrants (who again aren't overwhelming British shores), but when I'm saying refugees, I'm using the actual definition. Is it that hard to keep this straight?Originally posted by MicrosoftBob View PostSo why so many Africans fleeing Syria, don't you think that's odd

As there are a multitude of safe countries they cross before they reach us, how are they refuges by the actual definitionOriginally posted by seanraaron View PostThe Africans are arguably economic migrants (who again aren't overwhelming British shores), but when I'm saying refugees, I'm using the actual definition. Refugees are people fleeing conflict zones. The present crisis is with people fleeing Syria. These people aren't reaching the UK illegally. I'm not sure who you're referring to exactly - doesn't the Mail article have that information?Originally posted by MicrosoftBob View PostAs there are a multitude of safe countries they cross before they reach us, how are they refuges by the actual definitionComment
