Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Let me guess, all immigrants are criminals/stealing jobs/welfare scum; if only I suffered their rampaging depredations I'd face the truth and support keeping the hordes at bay?

People who cross Europe to get to the UK are not eligible for Asylum. This is covered by the Dublin agreement.

The fact that the "Syrians fleeing persecution" look awfully like people from other countries whose motivation is economic and the majority are young males not women & children like other refugee movements doesn't really encourage people to be sympathetic.

These are the points most are making. I have no objection to the UK helping. we should fund & develop facilities in Turkey and other countries round Syria so refugees are safe and well cared for, they can return at the end of the war.

Its surprising how many claiming asylum pop 'home' for holidays.

It's a shame there's been so little progress in getting an agreement with other EU members and a lot of grandstanding and unhelpful statements from the UK gov. That's the point I've been making.

I was reading an intresting article in the Times (paywall) earlier and it was saying how many of these pro immigration groups like Open Borders and Southall Black Sisters are receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding from some Wall Street hedge fund backed outfit. Big business likes open borders. So do hard left-wingers; they make odd bed fellows.

Now now, I'm sure the poster has worked with people or his neighbour's friend worked with a guy who did this, so who are we to question such statements?

ok used to. which is why they added them to their SAR, either that or they decided to track it for the hell of it.

It may not be some nefarious plot by cigar chomping capitalists to "open borders", especially when excess immigration is likely to tighten them.

Several hedge fund managers are financiers and bankers who fled from Lebanon as youngsters in the 1970s.
