Before anyone asks 100,000 ZX80 , 1.5 million ZX81 and 5 million spectrums were massive volumes.
BBC micro was 1.5 million competing with the Spectrum.Last edited by vetran; 16 September 2021, 20:37.Comment

Yes indeed - hat tip to Sir Clive. A huge influence in my life, ever since my Dad brought back a ZX81 when I must have been about 8. I had an awful lot of fun on that, and later the Spectrum. Never did get a QL - Atari ST for me then, what a leap that was.Originally posted by vetran View Post

Although I was more of an Acorn user by the 1980s, my first calculator was a Sinclair Cambridge and the first programmable device I owned was the Sinclair Cambridge Programmable, a neat little thing with 4-bit machine code
I saw him in the flesh once at the PCW show at Earl's Court, which we used to go to every year when I was a games programmer. We wandered past him as we were making our rounds of the various publishers we worked with, as he stood conversing with someone among the stands. For some reason I've always remembered vividly how his head glistened with the reflection of the hall's bright lights from above
