- Mr Jaku had experienced the horrors at Auschwitz and Buchenwald camps
- His parents were killed in the gas chambers at Auschwitz upon arrival in 1944
- He miraculously escaped a death march and was rescued by American soldiers
- Mr Jaku moved to Australia in 1950 with his wife Flore where he lived in Sydney
