Back in 2008 I was contracting at Capital Radio on Leicester Square. I was having a smoke outside the main entrance on the square one afternoon and saw Timothy West walking towards me. I immediately recognised him and it must have shown in my face, as he glanced at me before quickly looking away with an expression that clearly said "FFS, I hope this guy isn't going to talk to me."

Similar look from Nigel Hawthorne in the main Guildford post office. He was at the local theatre. Shorter than I expected.

Shame, he seemed like such a lovely chap, utterly devoted to his wife Prunella Scales and taking care of her as she struggled with dementia. Their Great Canal Journeys series was a pleasure to watch.

I can't stand The Archers. Maybe I missed the golden years but the drivel I have listened to leads to swift engagement with the off button.

I remember me mum always listened to The Archers when I was a kid.

It was never the same after the death of Grace Archer. .
