It's going to cost more than a World War, slow technological progress to a snails pace due to energy shortages and rising costs, save no one from disease or famine, and have zero effect on climate.
Apart from that, it's the best thing ever to happen to mankind.Comment

Widely accepted on Planet Lomborg perhaps. Given that the total emissions by say, the USA are around 250Gt since 1970, WTF is he on about? The Paris Treaty promises to keep temperature rises below 2°C. However, the actual promises made here will do almost nothing to achieve that. It is widely accepted that to keep temperature rises below 2°C, we have to reduce CO₂ emissions by 6,000Gt.
Dodgy, you linked the piece, where does Lomborg get this figure?

This is what we should really take note of - context https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkdb...ature=youtu.be As it says there is little parallel between CO2 and warming/cooling.Originally posted by pjclarke View PostLomborg:

It's going to have no impact on global conflicts or prevent war.
Save no one from radicalisation or terrorism.
Cure no disease, give no one better medical treatment, ease anyone's suffering or give them clean water.
Protect us from asteroids or natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions or tsunami.
It won't take humans to Mars and beyond.
But is might save a few PPM of plant food entering the atmosphere.
Utter disgrace. Talk about humanity losing the plot with introspective, meaningless nonsense.Comment

Oh, so you're on the "overblow the threat terrorism poses to humanity" bandwagon instead.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
