Well I have just read this entire thread and am fairly disappointed to see the average attitude is so ill-informed and blinkered.

It's quite simple - for going on 15 years, we (The West) have been engaged in the so-called War on Terror. The US estimates we've killed 1.3 million people; other estimates range from 2 to 4 million DEAD HUMAN BEINGS. It astonishes me that folk actually think that's OK. Our governments have bombed, invaded and occupied ME countries, executed leaders and continually invented and reinvented boogeymen.

Just imagine if there was a united group invading countries and killing millions of innocents all over Europe; don't you think the result of that might be folk willing to wage a war against them to stop such awful behaviour....oh wait, I think that happened already.

The real terrorists wear £4000 suits, not exploding vests.


Please don't think this means I find these attacks palatable; I find it just as horrific as you do. Our governments created (and continue to exacerbate) this state of affairs. That means it's on us. All of us.

We are where we are. Most of us might not like how we got here, some of us know more of the history than others, but here we are.
So, what are we going to do about it ?

We have to fight. Fight for Liberty, fight for justice, fight for freedom, fight for inequality. That fight is through words, actions, relationships, community, and if needed a hellfire missile. You can either join the fight or sit on the sidelines calling the odd play.

If you're going to call someone racist I'd suggest you fully understand the definition of the word. Referring to brown people, white people or green people is no such thing.

That's a gross generalisation on many levels. If we were simply blowing up all people in that region then it would be carpet bombing, but we're not.

I'm not suggesting that the foreign policy in those parts of the world are any where near ideal, but you can't pretend that the biggest killer of brown people in those countries is not other brown people.

Please spare me the hollow attempts to turn it into 'racism'. I can understand their grievances, especially when the US props up authoritarian regimes that cause much of the trouble in the region, just saying it is absolutely not the fault of most Westerners, and we shouldn't let our governments try con us into thinking it is. The actions of the terrorists remain inexcusable.
