As usual, no citation or link for the prejudice. Too much to ask, I guess.

The causes of the civil war in Syria are many and complex, and climate change was certainly not the main driver, however a record drought, which drove farmers from their farms and into the already overcrowded cities was a factor - described by the US Military as a 'threat multiplier'.

I support my assertion with evidence: Climate change in the Fertile Crescent and implications of the recent Syrian drought
My subconscious is annoying. It's got a mind of its own.

You are backing a winner here because the climate always changes. The changes are sometimes for the better and sometime for the worse.

Do you get all your information from the BBC?

Well I have just read this entire thread and am fairly disappointed to see the average attitude is so ill-informed and blinkered.

It's quite simple - for going on 15 years, we (The West) have been engaged in the so-called War on Terror. The US estimates we've killed 1.3 million people; other estimates range from 2 to 4 million DEAD HUMAN BEINGS. It astonishes me that folk actually think that's OK. Our governments have bombed, invaded and occupied ME countries, executed leaders and continually invented and reinvented boogeymen.

Just imagine if there was a united group invading countries and killing millions of innocents all over Europe; don't you think the result of that might be folk willing to wage a war against them to stop such awful behaviour....oh wait, I think that happened already.

The real terrorists wear £4000 suits, not exploding vests.

Please don't think this means I find these attacks palatable; I find it just as horrific as you do. Our governments created (and continue to exacerbate) this state of affairs. That means it's on us. All of us.

I'd like to see a source for those figures.

Actually a change in climate is always going to leave some people worse off and almost certainly some others better off. And the world being what it is, the people being worse off are nearly always going to include those living on the edge, e.g. farming land that's only just viable..

Nope, just them, their cronies and advocates of such intervention. Not people who oppose it, like the majority of Europeans have.

                      Start there, do some digging.

If you'd like to see how media whitewashing works check out Wikipedia. Their estimate for Iraq - somewhere between 62,000 and 1,100,000 - even my SA isn't that vague.
