The 'war on terror' is a Bushism (GW), so 15 years old.

The 'holy land' and the ME has been a constant battlefield since they were first colonised thousands of years ago.

Once they were largely fertile, less so these days. But their location on the trade routes has always made them important territory.

A thousand years ago it was pretty barbaric. Women were subjugated, petty crime punishable by floggings, hands chopped off for stealing. Did you know they would even stone people to death!

Bleating on Facebook isn't really opposing anything. I totally hear you but I don't see Blair in the Hague yet and I don't see the UK or the US government being stopped. In fact all I see is those same governments taking more and more personal freedoms away in the name of security ensuring the populace is more and more powerless to stop them.

And I see folk in this thread lapping it up.

If the reports are correct, JJ was killed whilst travelling in a car, taken out by a hellfire from a drone. He received an undoubtably quicker and less pain death than he inflicted on his victims. Kneeling in the sand, waiting to die, being taunted about how you are going to be butchered.

Well the thing is, aside from bleating about it on Facebook, or protesting it, what are people to do? Most of it amounts to asking the government to police itself. Few politicians aspiring to be PM have any incentive to go after Blair for something they themselves might want to leave open as an option.

Yeah but as much as one can take issue with the Crusades, they were a reaction to Islamic conquest at the time.
