To be fair I think this is different from having an inferiority complex. It is probably how the left feel about the fact that the UK and England in particular is so superior to other countries.
LOL. But this attitude is why the rest of us like to take the piss when you get knocked down....

If you're going to put yourselves up there, then you've got to expect a bit of friendly banter...

I don't know much about Wales or the Welsh but I do genuinely think the Scots feel more of a sense of identity and we could learn something from their patriotism (even though I feel patriotism is rather foolish). England seems to have rather a non-identity these days - there was a brief spark during/after the Olympics which I feel is probably what other nations feel all the time!

You can thank the enforced multi-multiculturalism, mass migration, demonisation of the words British and English and the excessive use of political correctness to force people into feeling guilty about having their own non imported identity.
There are plenty of cases where the Union Flag isn't flown in case it offends the sensibilities of a racial group and the Junior and Infant school a few hundred yards from here hasn't had a Christmas tree in several years, again because it "offended" the sensitive natures of what is now an intake of muslim children in the high 90%'s. They stick banners all over the place for Eid of course.

If you start acting like being English is a matter of pride then you're oppressing one group or another, if it's not those from the sub-continent that use the word racist as a highly effective assault rifle, then you're bound to annoy the Welsh or the Scots, if not all of them at the same time. Of course the St George's Flag has instant political racist reactions now, almost like flying a swastika on a red and white background would.

I have recently finished working for almost a year in Cardiff, great fun city, I'd strongly recommend going there for a few nights out if you've never been and there's a great enthusiasm for the Rugby too.
The ribbing is generally good natured as you would expect, but there is a noticeable undercurrent of the militant "anything but England" attitude which is much stronger in Scotland, that's genuinely offensive.

(Incidentally the Welsh deserved the win against England as did the Australians who utterly outplayed the English, such a shame the Welsh have a bad injury list England going out at the group stage is well deserved for the quality they've shown.)

We never did get to go out and try a few together, shame that.

I did try quite a lot with colleagues, but I don't remember the names of most. The Programme Director was at least once a week in the Mango House, just opposite the Arms Park and I went there more than any of the others, it was consistently good with top notch staff

As I said the quantity of places of decent quality in Cardiff was a very nice and unexpected surprise, it's not even massively sprawling place so a determined drunken lurch can encompass a lot of watering holes.

I'm sure they'll find something you knackered so you'll have to come back to fix it.

I think the Welsh do have a sense of identity. Maybe not as much as the Scots though.

I think in Wales we like to be British, and of course, everyone else in the UK is our friend (despite what we say) BUT we are Welsh.

As someone else pointed out maybe sligthly more in Scotland. Been there twice. Was surprised that it was all VERY anti-English. Remember some pissed up scotsman having a bit of a dig in dominos , then I mentioned I was welsh. Then it was ok then thats fine. Sure it would have kicked off otherwise.

Remember him kicking off at the staff as well mind because they didnt sell chips....

Then we could have Cardiff drinks, like the peeps down in London.

Personally I have always found the Scots more welcoming than the Welsh. But I think that is just luck.

A friend of mine in a Scottish pub. A Scot hears his English accent. Berates him for being English. Then says "And I'm a schoolteacher - that is what I teach the children"!

Interestingly in Wales all the best schools are Welsh speaking. Clearly speaking Welsh mkes one a lot more intelligent...
