It's like saying, "This plumber quoted me £50, now he says it would be £75, so I'm going to sack him and get another guy who will take twice as long and charge me £200 - that'll teach him".Comment

Originally posted by SandyD View PostIt depends why each plumber increased their rate, and what would they do with the extra…if the original plumber decided to charge you the extra £50 because he wants to pass it on to a rich mate of his to gain the rich guy's approval, whilst the other expensive plumber charge you double but with the extra he will put it into improving transports/schools/NHS .. then yes I’d go with the £200Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

Originally posted by AtW View PostYes, thanks to Gideon now it's trivial to change dividend tax rates, it's a big move that HE DID so next Labour Govts would benefit greatly from, but HE STARTED IT.
There was no hole with dividends other than NICs for personal service companies, what Gideon did is worse than Gordon Brown when he robbed Pension Funds by disallowing dividend tax credits for them, now Gideon did it for everybody!. That is the betrayal of supposed pro-business agenda that he claimed to champion.
To the average man in the street you would be hard pressed to justify why the highest rate of tax on employed income is effectively 47% (45% tax & 2% NIC), yet the highest rate on dividend income is currently 30.56% - I know about corporation tax but there is still a difference to explain to Joe Public.
Then we come to NIC, just another tax to confuse the public, there is no longer a link to paying for pensions and the NHS etc. The sooner tax and NI are combined the sooner people will understand just how much they are taxed.
NIC funds public services so why exempt non-employment income, pensioners benefit from the state spending as does everyone else."The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." CiceroComment
