It does confuse me that the UK is seen as the best place to come to when it's about the furthest away... or is it that we only see the UK issues on UK news and they are queuing to sneak into other nations as well? Or maybe, other nations they just walk into since they don't have a sea in the way, so there is no 'concentration point'?
I wonder if we encourage them by trying to keep them out. They think it must be great in the UK if it's that hard to get in.

What we should do is organise day trips to Folkstone; let them look around the town centre for a bit, and then maybe they'll happily go back to France.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Maybe put them up in the Grand Burstin for a night.

That'll soon have 'em headed back across the channel.

I'm sure most of the rest of the well off countries in Europe have it worse. France has seen massive changes in population.

However I pay my taxes in the UK so I would like to deal with our issues.

The west is emotionally weak, as shown by the mass expression of distress on seeing a photograph of a dead toddler. What these emotionally weak people don't seem to understand or see is the situation in various parts of the world, that is not photographed by your average DM.

            Need examples? Go figure.

The attempt of media and newspapers to emotionally blackmail the European nations with that photograph has been a success. Agreed it is distressing to see a dead toddler, but how many fools in the UK or Europe are paying attention to the facts behind it? Beyond my intelligence.

As I said earlier, Cameron has sent the right signals out to Hitler Merkel on helping the real people in distress and the real refugees in UN camps and not what she dictates on the share of the mix from economic migrants, refugees(?), ISIS infiltrators etc.

            2 cents of change ...

I've been trying keep put of debates on this but it's all kicked of on my facebook today. Someone collecting for 'refugees' in Calais and the someone's pointed out they are (currently) mostly young African males and are migrants. It's a complete mess with people falling out and deleting each other lol..

I did find it amusing the BBC were trying Tony's the right terminology on radio 4 but failed miserable mixing the words immigrant, migrant, asylum seekers and refugees up Willy Nilly. A right cockup it was.

I can imagine a lot of people will fall out with each other as a lot of people never look at the actual facts, they see a disturbing image which triggers guilt and then try to do something to make themselves feel better.

Obviously the subject is trending all over social media and the papers, leading to increases in donations of food, clothes and money which is a good thing but in general I wonder what it is that the majority of the UK population want to happen in regards to actual migration.

All this news coverage has swung my vote to not wanting to be in the EU.

Cross a border illegally? I would do, and I have. But I didn't put my family's life in danger by leaving a safe country to put them into boats, and I didn't stand at immigration when they've refused me entry to demand that I must be let in because I want to get in to their country and to hell with your laws that require "identification" and "visas".
