did the pilot make any appeal for help to the passengers once he realised what the co-pilot was doing and couldn't talk him out of it
Remember this was all in the space of 5 mins.

For me there should be something in the planes computer to prevent it from going straight into a mountain. I realise Pilots need to be able to override for emergency landings, but never into a mountain.

Thanks Suity, because without that correction no one would have understood my post.

New rule on spelling nazi posts, only post if the correction causes the posts meaning to become clearer.

I suppose the problem with that is how do you identify what's a mountain/field/motorway etc for an improper landing or manual crash attempt and retain the flexibility for emergency landings? It's easy to generalise, but to come up with a full list and exceptions for the planet would be a big task.

That level of decision making is (I believe) down to the pilots and you can't really do much about them barring rigorous physical and mental health checks.

Well thanks to my corrections we now know the correct duration, and the correct owner of the computer, whereas before it would have been any plane rather than this specific one.

All in all, you are quite welcome.

So perhaps I'm spotting stuff I wouldn't normally spot, or care about.

That's contrary to the entire ethos of spelling/grammar Nazism.
