    Nobody is ever "diagnosed medically of having suicidal thoughts".
    People are diagnosed as having depression - millions of people are.
    Some of those will express suicidal thoughts. A huge number of people will never be diagnosed, and a number of people will have suicidal thoughts but never express them.

    Your posting show a distinct lack of understanding of depression - not surprising as that's very common. Your assertions of "once depressed, always depressed" are wrong, as are "once suicidal, always suicidal".
    Should someone who expresses suicidal thoughts as a 13 year old teen, for example, be banned from driving buses later in life in case they pose a threat to their passengers?

          Both carry passengers who do not have control of the vehicle, and who can be injured or killed by the actions of the controller. I chose to write "bus" to pose the question as to where the line is drawn. I could have said taxi. Or car. Or motorcycle.

          Can you give us a numerical figure where the number of people killed is low enough to not ban someone with depression from controlling that vehicle, or do you propose that anyone with depression should be locked away "just in case"?

          Those who commit suicide by and large do not injure or kill others. This case is very sad, and maybe more could have been done, but it is an exception.

            Disturbing to see that there are posters who think it was ok what the pilot did, because he was mentally ill. The guy was battulip crazy and never should have been allowed to fly an aircraft

              Again, this type of comment is part of the problem with dealing with mental health.

              Depression = battulip crazy?

              And who said what the pilot did was OK?

                Who said it was OK? Please quote a post which says this.

                Exactly. Everyone here (almost certainly) knows someone who is depressed. Most of us won't even be aware of the fact. I know people who have suicidal thoughts as part of depression but lead normal lives. Having those thoughts and putting them into practice are very different, doing so in such an extreme way is a different level.

                  I am peeved at the ex girlfriend for not dobbing him in. Then again, who could have predicted this would happen?

                      Political correctness leads to disasters like this and things that happened in Rotherham for example. Calling a spade a spade helps a lot
