I read the news and am not surprised at this media circus, but nonetheless fed up with it.

Yes we "know" the pilot left the cockpit. Did he close the door behind him? No mention of this in any media outlet. A pretty basic assumption to say that he did, but still this is an assumption you must have made to draw the conclusion that the co-pilot deliberately crashed the plane.

Also, the knob that adjusted the cruise height setting to just 100ft. We have to assume the co-pilot did this to again make your earlier assumption hold water. Also, we have to assume that he intentionally did this. This rules out the possibility that he made a mistake (and was unable to rectify it) and or the possibility that the flight computer malfunctioned and adjusted it for him, or that someone externally took control of the aircraft.

Are any of the above possibilities any more likely than "he was mental"? Maybe, maybe not, but all we have at this point is conjecture.

Yet the hysterical hyenas make a mockery of the process by jumping to conclusions prematurely.

Could you translate that into dummy language for me (the data, not the sentence I quoted!)?

At 09:30:54 the altitude selection knob on the autopilot was set to 13008 feet and the barometric pressure was set to 1006.0

Altitude selection knob on the autopilot was set to 96 feet and the barometric pressure was set to 1006.0

The actual altitudes were 13100 and 100 feet the binary translation isn't exact. You can't set the altitude to 0 feet.

Edit: The barometric pressure setting was 1006, not that it had just been set to that value.

At this point in time I'm hoping you don't decide on a career change into the airline business...

No need. His head is already in the clouds on a permanent basis.
