So he leave Top Gear. He'll start another programme, Hammond and et al. will join on and he'll still make millions. BBC loses it biggest cash cow and will cry that everyone and their baby needs a TV licence to cover the hole.

I thought they were planning to change the TV license anyway, to make it a household charge that anyone pays whether they have a TV or not

This is it. Its no longer entertaining. Its an ego trip for clarkson in particular. Funny as **** they got run out of some southern US state by the rednecks. Of course not a single person on the production realise that porker number plater could be taken as a Falklands reference and of course, no one knew that 'slope' was an offensive if not racial term in indonesia.

That's not entertainment. And its not pushing the boundaries as some have suggested.

They take the pi** out of people either individually or as groups. when you do this it stops people from taking themselves too seriously. Any program that does this (without taking it too far and becoming bullies) is alright by me.

It must be frustrating for May and Hammond that their futures are directly under the control of JC not being a berk. Obviously both have been quite prolific on the BBC recently (unlike JC who hasn't done much at all IIRC) but still, having to end TG when you've done nothing wrong would be galling.

I do wonder if they could continue it without him - possibly, but another network taking the whole show would make more sense.

Or, JC will make a public apology, give £1m to a charity for babies, and they'll carry on.

Exactly. Mind you I am not so sure that individually on their own outside the comfort of their TV program they are not more than a little sensitive to having people laugh at them. hammond is a small man who is successful. behind every man like this is a an almighty chip on the shoulder. I am sure that Clarkson is a simple childlike joker with a propensity to be a bully.

Collectively within the the environment of the program itself it does not take itself seriously at all.

JC didn't come across as the violent type to me. A loud-mouthed arse at times, sure... but the type who would consider throwing a punch as the mark of a thug.
