You can claim anything you want.
What is uncertain, is the deductibility of it...Let YourCo. buy it and let your accountant deal with it, on that basis?I was an IPSE Consultative Council Member, until the BoD abolished it. I am not an IPSE Member, since they have no longer have any relevance to me, as an IT Contractor. Read my lips...I recommend QDOS for ALL your Insurance requirements (Contact me for a referral code).Comment

If Bill Werbeniuk can offset the cost of drinking beers before and during his pool games against tax, I think you can go ahead with your red bull.Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.

I know a music journalist that offsets the cost of strippers and beer against tax, it's a legitimate business expenseOriginally posted by NibblyPig View PostIf Bill Werbeniuk can offset the cost of drinking beers before and during his pool games against tax, I think you can go ahead with your red bull.Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.
No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

We've all worked for companies that have coffee machines, and you all like to make a thing of how you're operating legit companies and not a tax dodge vehicle, so what's the problem?⭐️ Gold Star ContractorComment

Stocking a company fridge is tax deductible and I don't think there are any BIK issues either so long as it's available to all employees. It either comes under the rules for "staff canteens" or in this case more likely "trivial benefits".
The problem of course is working from home, the lines are blurred. If you rented an office and bought some tea, coffee, drinks, snacks etc for the office nobody (including HMRC) would bat an eyelid. But if your office is your home and you have no other employees working there the HMRC might rightly ask the question of why you need it.
Context is everything. When I get my garden office and come to kit it out, as well as the usual office furniture I wouldn't hesitate to stick a cheap coffee machine and some supplies for the office through. But while I'm working in the spare room? No.
Put it through if you like. You'll likely get away with it as I'm sure HMRC have got more important things to investigate.Last edited by TheCyclingProgrammer; 24 August 2015, 16:16.Comment

I moved my office into my kitchen and turned it into my home office with ensuite facilities.
Now whenever I want a coffee, I just do 5 minutes of overtime. Same if I fancy a fry-up.

I am developing a new app using new technologies I've not used much and want to hire a person freelance. Can I expense this from my Ltd company? I would use this app as part of my company and get revenue from it there.Comment
