You will find most hipsters idea of social change is that everyone can afford a pumpkin spiced latte, skinny jeans and fake glasses.

Would this count as a micro-aggression?

Edit: I see he had the grace to apologise.

If everyone could afford that, it WOULD be indicative of huge social change. But hey, why care about things when you can laugh at the clothes of people who do. That's far more important.

Odd coincidence! This is the first post I read since donating at his indigogo page:

Grace? When someone caves into bullying you call it grace?!

So you think the shirt is acceptable to wear on TV while representing a British university on a serious matter?

This is why some organisations give their employees media training so they are dressed in such a way that people are listening to what they are saying rather than looking at what they are wearing.

Agree, someone should have stopped it before it got that far.

I wouldn't want to work in an environment where the guys wore shirts with sexualised naked women on.

My first job from school, my boss had a lifesize Sam Fox on the back of his door. I used to hate going into his office.

                    Poor bloke.
Hopefully he'll spend the money on some more appropriate clothing.

I do think it's a real shame that the argument over the shirt has detracted from what he's achieved. Especially when it was so easily preventable.

I hadn't realised he'd been bullied into apologising. Shame, it would have been nice if he'd done it off his own bat.

Yes, he should have had media training. But only so he doesn't have to face a backlash from cowardly mean-spirited self-righteous politically motivated individuals whose only concern is promoting themselves and their ideology, and in fact don't give a rats arse about any individual.

My son was down at ESA last month - those men and women are utter incompetents when it comes to presentation. But they do amazing science. Did any of his female colleagues complain about his shirt? No. They didn't even see it as an issue. Nor did the woman friend who designed it for him.

I don't see anything amiss with his shirt, and I don't think it would put women off going into science. I was at a science graduation ceremony yesterday - there were significantly more women graduating than men - in Physics, Nano-Technology, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science. I asked my girls and they were amazed at the fuss. Yes, it was a bit sexist, but only in the sense of expressing a stereotype, which is what most of the advertisements you watch on TV do. There's far worse. Going after Matt Taylor overall harms women's interests. For example, by expressing my opinion on this subject, SO might get the impression that I agree with his what I think is a rather misogynistic outlook.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!
