As you have noticed, they don't seem to have a clue. It's quite fitting that their leader is always depicted with a pint in his hand, as he probably doesn't remember what he said the night before.

What exactly needs to be done other than tighten up the border controls and dish out welfare payments to the thousands of Brits employed by the Brussels gravy train?

You don't need to leave the EU for that. Border control is ludicrous and so will be even after leaving the EU. There's a lot that should and could be done now, for example forcing foreign nationals to register at the local council, like anywhere in Europe.

I agree with you on that. Those parasitic UKIP MEPs who never turn up in Brussels shouldn't get any allowances!

If I undestand correctly, the core of the problem is that people on low wages of any nationality and in any EU country have more chances to have their wages cut or lose their job altogether, regardless of how many immigrants are in the country.

Being in the EU is not just about immigration. There is a considerable part of the UK economy that depends on having freedom of goods and movement. Think about transport, tourism, finance, IT.

It's not just about buying cheap goods from abroad. It's about a constant flow of services which are exchanged every day in Europe.

Ah attack the man not the argument, is your grip slipping?

unrestricted freedom of movement and an 'ever closer union' are two of the main objections most people have with the EU.

If it were willing to implement a visa waiver program which slowed the rush and allowed referendums about passing control to Brussels then its very likely UKIP would not exist or be as popular.

You still haven't answered my question where the tax take is going to come from when we have finished the race to the bottom freedom of movement has encouraged. The companies will enjoy dutch sandwiches, the top 1% will use various tax avoidance methods and the middle class can't support the burden on their reduced wages.

Isn't it strange how parties that object to Europe or immigration are painted as right wing and racist.

The race to the bottom in the last 5 years has nothing to do with cheap immigration. Maybe until 2008, but not after that. So, if you were right, if we removed all immigrants from this country, then wages would peak again? This is what many people think, but I don't see any evidence of that. If anything, it would make things worse. The lack of revenues coming from reduced foreign influx would force many business to simply shut down.

You are oversimplifying: in or out of the EU has many more implications than just cheap foreign labour.

You can't have a wisa waiver with all or some EU countries and then expect to deal with them on our terms. Something has got to give.
