Seeing nothing but ads for things I've already bought

Order something on Amazon, and for days afterwards the ad panels on other web pages show nothing but them.

    That will really boost sales

they are the masters of marketing, they also send emails you may also like this item even though it contains the item you've just purchased.

Ebay are targeting me with ads for things that I have sold. No, I am not interesting in buying them.

I get the same adverts after buying off of the internet.
But fortunately my porn filter blocks most of it

That's because you buy such sordid things.

They know that the way they screw down the manufacturers on prices, those manufacturers only send them the stuff from the tat bin.

Slightly related... missus was offered a job at a company. Googled them and went to their site for a look around to find out about them. Didn't enter any details.

Next day, I get an email from them informing me about their products! Might be paranoid but this isn't a company that would email me. So how did they know who to email.

I googled to find if there was a database that linked IP to email but nothing obvious.
