Maybe they should not be left alone for that amount of time but the risks of them being abducted are tiny. Your sanctimony (which it is) is exactly the same as saying a girl who is raped whilst wearing "provocative clothes" is asking for it.

I am interested in this hostility - this aggressive desire to ascribe guilt - and it seems to me to have several causes.

Again though you are talking about the risk of abduction. That's not the deciding factor in any rational decision on childcare. If nobody is available to look after my young children, and they can't come with me then I don't go out. I don't go out and think the risk of child abduction is low so they must be safe, if they were hurt I'd probably end up divorced and rightly so. It's all about reasonable level of care and not being a selfish twat.

Harsh, but true, we don't know what happened other than what the McCanns chose to say.

My 3 sons never got kidnapped in over 20 years of travelling, holidays, days out and organised trips, but like Churchy has done my sons weren't abandoned by negligent parents.
