And no, that wasn't why NO won. The results were in line with every poll taken except for one outlier. NO won because in 2 years, Salmond hadn't bothered to think about how things would work, and was left fumbling for answers with 2 weeks to go. If things like currency - probably only currency TBH - had been seen as solved well in advance, I think it would have gone YES.
There was a huge swing towards Yes and it started to go in the lead, then the vow was presented, then the swing to Yes stopped and reversed slightly. Only an utter moron would pretend the vow didn't swing back to No.

I think this quote will explain it

If that keeps you warm at night, good for you.

Anyway, shouldn't SNP have disbanded regardless of the result? Since the people of Scotland said they didn't want to be independent, that rather makes the SNP's whole existence a bit pointless.
They don't have an I in the name (e.g. UKIP ) so the answer is no.

Yes, but still possible. Kosovo did it and Gordon Brown as the PM supported them in that effort.

Kosovo declared independence on 17 February 2008[110] and over the following days, a number of states (the United States, Turkey, Albania, Austria, Croatia, Germany, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, the Republic of China (Taiwan),[111] Australia, Poland and others) announced their recognition, despite protests by Russia and others in the UN.[112] As of 13 August 2014, 108 UN states recognise the independence of Kosovo and it has become a member country of the IMF and World Bank as the Republic of Kosovo.[113][114] The ICJ concluded unanimously in 2010 that Kosovo's declaration of independence of 17 February 2008 did not violate general international law.[115]

Brown welcomes independent Kosovo | Metro News

Gordon Brown: “We are recognising Kosovo as an independent sovereign state.”

USA also backed the move as they themselves declared UDI back in 1776.

And what did the majority of Kosovans want to do? Was their unilateral Declaration of Independence the will of the majority of the people, or a coup by a minority?
