Was the Scotland vote rigged?

That's about the size of it. Hell hath no fury like a YES voter scorned.“The period of the disintegration of the European Union has begun. And the first vessel to have departed is Britain” -
It's still less than 3.2% of those that voted yes and less than 1.17% of the total Scottish population. It troubles me that even though it was a no vote people are so foaming at the mouth that it's still their way or nothing.Originally posted by Batcher View PostThe SNP have almost doubled their membership since Friday from 26,000 to over 50,000.Comment

It was a tactic engineered by Salmond as he was banking on the youth vote being more idealistic and less worldly wise. And therefore much more likely to vote YES.Originally posted by d000hg View PostAre they going to seriously look at extending the vote to the 16-18 range do you reckon? Or was that a passing whim?
Difficult to say whether or not it helped him though.“The period of the disintegration of the European Union has begun. And the first vessel to have departed is Britain”Comment

which is all very nice - but there will be no more referendum for a while.Originally posted by Batcher View PostThe SNP have almost doubled their membership since Friday from 26,000 to over 50,000. That is more than the LibDems have UK wide making the SNP the 3rd biggest party membership. The Greens and SSP have also added thousands to their memberships.
The pro-indy parties will have a pact so they won't stand against each other at the GE therefore all the 1.6 million voters will tactically vote for the local pro-indy party. The 3 main parties will still stand against each other and the turnout is usually much lower for a GE anyway. A lot of the Labour MPs only have small majorities so will be easy to wipe out.
The grassroots have a taste of the power we wield at the ballot box and won't let it go. There are rallies planned in Edinburgh this weekend and a big one in Glasgow in October to keep the momentum going.
So, we voted 'No' that's democracy, are these rallies in support of the SNP? Or do we have to have to keep having the referendum until you get the answer you want?
Do we really have to go through years of this nationalist puerile sh1t.Comment

I don't think that's too important - like with TV complaints they assume every person who could be arsed to write in represents thousands who were offended. Joining a political party is fairly extreme even for those who strongly support a party, since you have to hand over cash.Originally posted by The_Equalizer View PostIt's still less than 3.2% of those that voted yes and less than 1.17% of the total Scottish population.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

It is just a "kick the cat" knee-jerk frustration playing out amongst the flouncing YES vote.Originally posted by The_Equalizer View PostIt's still less than 3.2% of those that voted yes and less than 1.17% of the total Scottish population. It will all be forgotten soon once X-Factor ramps up.“The period of the disintegration of the European Union has begun. And the first vessel to have departed is Britain”Comment

It probably will mean the Cons back in Downing Street but Labour were in bed with them and they are almost as right wing anyway. The poor areas of Scotland relied on Labour to protect them but have come to realise that they are being left behind as Labour chases the Middle England vote instead. Labour have always taken their vote for granted.Originally posted by d000hg View PostOh in your previous post I read you as saying Labour supporters would shift to ConDem, which seemed weird. But you weren't saying that.
If Scotland goes nearly entirely SNP, that will mean a right-leaning government which Scotland doesn't want. So they would be cutting off their noses to spite their faces.
The pro-indy MPs elected to Westminster will not vote on English matters (SNP have always refused to vote on them anyway). It will mean a wider political gap between Westminster and Edinburgh eventually causing the fatal fracture and we will have our independence. We're playing the long game

The nationalists oil revenue projections will be the most crucial element to the post referendum discussion.
Most people thought they were talking tulipe, if they predicted correctly they will gather more support.Comment

Yes they said today it should happen. It will probably happen in Scottish parliament elections first just as we have a version of PR voting.Originally posted by d000hg View PostAre they going to seriously look at extending the vote to the 16-18 range do you reckon? One of them even turned up with a hammer...
A lot of people will not join a political party but it's an indication of the growing support. A lot of Labour and various union members resigned their memberships and joined up.
