    Are they different countries?

Go and find me a list somewhere on the Internet that has Scotland and England, Wales and Northern Ireland listed as separate countries.

List of sovereign states - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You'll not find one. Because England, Scotland, Wales, NI are legally a single entity. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the sovereign state.

To the outside world the UK is one country.

Because if they were individual countries then all the treaties such as membership of Europe and Nato would already be in place for Scotland.

But since it's technically Scotland is not a country. They aren't.

Go back to Page 1 of this debate and read and digest, I think you'll find that is the reason for the referendum.

Go a few page back and you'll find the reason why I'm stating this point.

And I know how that reads.

But have you seen some of the tulipe on Mumsnet?

That was me. I mentioned it because its new, previously the english generally ignored the Scots. Over the past few days they seems to be a move away from indifference to good riddance...

So I showed the above quote to 15 people at work - all Scots (8 No and 7 Yes)
Responses as follows: 12 thought it was sad, 2 thought it was bang on and 1 reckoned that she'd switch and vote No on the grounds that 'nationalism can be a bit sh1t sometimes'

Not sure why this nationalistic tuplip winds me up so much.

Vote Yes by all means, but accept that if/when it goes tits-up it will be the decision that has screwed things up not the fact that the RUK will be looking after themselves and not us.

What a spectaculary dumb ass thing to say

The people on here who have suggested that Scotland would blame England in the event of failure were little Englanders like Dodgy Agent and Flashman. You didn't get that from any of the Scots on here.

In fact, all the bold predictions of carnage on here come from the little Englanders + Minestrone who is a Scot, pretends he's Irish, supported the armed struggle for an Independent Ireland but doesn't support a referendum for Scotland.
When freedom comes along, don't PISH in the water supply.....

It was a stupid thing to say - can't believe he wrote it either. Gosh us Scots - gotta laugh

The RUK doesn't want Scotland to crash and burn, we, and I say 'we' because I have a vote, will have chosen the path ourselves. So when the RUK say no to a CU we shouldn't start crying that the nasty English have taken their ball back.

Anyone been called in for Contingency relocation planning meetings yet?
