    Neighbours from hell

Been living in a lovely quiet spot in a country village for 10 years or so.

    Until now..

Young family moved in to a place at the end of the dead end road I live on and the have the noisiest, peace shattering brat of a son who spends every waking hour shouting, screaming and just being generally noisy.

Now, you might think I'm about to tell you that the couple are chavs on benefits. But they're not. They're a youngish, middle class couple moved down from London, almost certainly left wing. He comes over very foppish while she is one of those women who seems to have a strong sense of entitlement - all of this was evidenced when I finally went and knocked on their door and asked if they would very kindly stop their little ******* brat from screaming and shouting right outside my door and also from peering in through the window as he may get more than he bargained for one day.

The response was kind of a mealey mouthed "We appreciate your concern but we feel it's important for our child to explore his environment so he is comfortable in his own space in the world" while she just tried to make me feel bad by saying something along the lines of "it's just a kid FFS, deal with it" (and yes, I'd love to deal with it dear - with the back of my hand.)

The funny thing is, it's a fairly mixed bunch round here - there have been a few what most people would term chavvy families that I've had no problems with & have actually been good neighbours but, unfortunately, they're moving on as they realise they can get a good price on their houses, buy in a less salubrious are & have plenty of cash left over.

I can only hope that not all of the people who replace them will be like the Modern Parents clones from down the road.

Still, what should I care - by the time he's 10 he'll be confined to his bedroom servicing his online porn addiction and peace shall be restored.

What do you lot do about other people's noisy kids when it's a constant source of irritation?

Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Reading his posts, I'm not entirely sure he fits that demographic.

No - but he does think he should!

Little girls are the worst. Some down our road give out a high pitched squeal almost constantly. What to do? I'd put 'em in the freezer if I had my way.

I've got a similar thing but of the chav-variety.

I bought a new build place and the block opposite me went to social housing. Got a really loud family with a huge number of kids together with stay-at-home parents right opposite. They seem to communicate via the medium of bellowing and want to have all their arguments out in the street. I can't believe I'm paying for this lot.

Mind you my worst neighbours here were in the flat above me: it was being rented to a nurse and her drug dealer boyfriend. They woke me up every single night for the two years they lived their. According to another neighbour one night he kicked her dog to death on the communal hallway and there remains a massive blood stain on the carpet where it happened.

The landlord moved back in after that and set up a cannabis-growing factory so involved high-temperature grow lamps which is an incredibly irresponsible to do in a crowded block of flats with babies and toddlers living there.

Don't mess around, tell them that little Johnny being within *yds of your abode is violating your parole conditions.

How about getting one of the devices described in the following Wail link:

Couple who installed high-pitch 'mosquito' alarm to ward off racist teen vandals are now under investigation for noise nuisance | Mail Online

                    A high-pitch 'mosquito' alarm.

And then you could code up a raspberry pi device to get it to go off only when a (separate) microphone picks up the kid's screaming. So providing gentle "training" to get the kid to shut up.
