Been living in a lovely quiet spot in a country village for 10 years or so.
Until now..
Young family moved in to a place at the end of the dead end road I live on and the have the noisiest, peace shattering brat of a son who spends every waking hour shouting, screaming and just being generally noisy.
Now, you might think I'm about to tell you that the couple are chavs on benefits. But they're not. They're a youngish, middle class couple moved down from London, almost certainly left wing. He comes over very foppish while she is one of those women who seems to have a strong sense of entitlement - all of this was evidenced when I finally went and knocked on their door and asked if they would very kindly stop their little ******* brat from screaming and shouting right outside my door and also from peering in through the window as he may get more than he bargained for one day.
The response was kind of a mealey mouthed "We appreciate your concern but we feel it's important for our child to explore his environment so he is comfortable in his own space in the world" while she just tried to make me feel bad by saying something along the lines of "it's just a kid FFS, deal with it" (and yes, I'd love to deal with it dear - with the back of my hand.)
The funny thing is, it's a fairly mixed bunch round here - there have been a few what most people would term chavvy families that I've had no problems with & have actually been good neighbours but, unfortunately, they're moving on as they realise they can get a good price on their houses, buy in a less salubrious are & have plenty of cash left over.
I can only hope that not all of the people who replace them will be like the Modern Parents clones from down the road.
Still, what should I care - by the time he's 10 he'll be confined to his bedroom servicing his online porn addiction and peace shall be restored.
What do you lot do about other people's noisy kids when it's a constant source of irritation?
