I think I'll keep it quiet when talking to agents, and will raise with client at interview stage/on offer depending on how things go. If its a 3-6 month contract on the table, I'm hoping it wouldn't be a big deal.
I know a recruiter replied to this thread early on and I appreciate the opinion and the example of your candidate holiday. I think opinions of recruitment agents is a totally different discussion that could go on elsewhere forever! But I do agree after reading the various points in this thread that to be honest, the fact I need time off is not actually relevant to the recruitment agent.
I'd like to think if I can get to interview stage I can prove I'm the right guy for the job - I'd like the client to decide (Client HR/developers/PMs) if I fit into their plans or not (with my time off and their project needs) rather than the recruiter who might only have half the story/vague job spec or vague project details (which is true in my short contract experience so far).
I do that also when legally entitled to yes. Same as directors of companies can claim SPP for themselves when they take a week (or two) off in such circumstances.
