False feedback mystery

I think that either the OP is a troll or he's a Walter Mitty type fantasist. It's a rare old day that a client will give negative feedback directly to the contractor if there's an agent in the chain... even then, he must have really annoyed them badly for them to give feedback that blunt.

Working on the small assumption of truth though, I see three realistic scenarios for that feedback:
    1. The interview went very poorly, the hiring manager thought the candidate was a bluffer unable to prove or justify many of the points of seniority on the CV. Remember, an interview is a subjective assessment by verbal review, it's very easy to get on the wrong side of an interview if you just don't hit it off with the interviewer. Maybe the interviewer just really didn't like him.
    2. The interview went moderately well but not as well as the candidate selected for hire. The client then rejected everyone else with a single generic but poorly worded reply.
    3. He actually got the feedback through the agent. The agent didn't have any real feedback to give so waffled some stuff thinking that the contractor would have turned his ears off at that point having given up the job as lost when the client hired someone else.

If the OP's friend were real and had done the work as suggested as a contractor for years, he'd most likely just shrug his shoulders, think about what he could do better next time then get hunting for work. If you're going to get snippy at rejection then maybe contracting isn't for you.

You are not attacking the agents so I can only conclude you are an agent!!

Your diversionary over-compensation is all too transparent.

Greylisted? Like that senior guy I interviewed for a senior position who I had to reject for not being senior (even though I knew he senior as it was as it was defined on his cv and he told me in the interview).

I just hope he does not take us to court and force us to admit that it was all a large conspiracy to keep contractor's rates low!
