Another Dubai Jobs thread - BI roles

Starting to seriously consider a move abroad due to the way the UK is going.... I have friends and relatives in Dubai and am looking to start applying for roles (perm or contract) there.

I have had a look on Gulf Talent, Bayt and Jobserve but there doesn't seem to be much around.... Anybody been able to find a job there and who can advice me on how to do so?

That's what I did expect.... Is that the case even when working at higher levels i.e. Technical Lead, Data Modelling etc...

Dubai is the gateway to Europe for the bobs. There are more there than here from what I have seen.

I would go to Dubai for a gig for the experience as it is a fabulous place but in it for the money and contract security? Forget that.

The idea that moving to the middle east is mega bucks died about 10 years ago. The rates over there all in are worse than here.

And try not to get a gig over their summer... hot doesn't come close to describing it.

I think it would have to be a permie role with accommodation, car allowance, flights, etc. Something that still is possible but admit-ably more difficult than it used to be.

I get called from time to time with gigs in various places in the middle east.

The rates can range from OK to good however, they seem un-willing to pay for accomodation and this has slowly become the norm for the calls i get since around 2009. This is a deal breaker for me, I am willing to swallow flights but not accomodation, a decent (and i mean european standard) two bedder in a finance centre can run you £25-35k per annum easy and in many countries this is paid upfront.

Great for junior and mid-level roles, especially Citrix (law firms love Citrix) no good for senior roles unless someone pops their clogs or gets fired.

All the guys I know in Dubai still get those benefits. I had an interview with Etihad Airways and they would include accommodation in the deal.
