I found a small company through the web by recommendation and was happy with them. They just printed what I gave them. I've also recently used a design firm to create new cards for my plan B. Happy to recommend both by PM & show examples by email if you don't give away my identify on CUK.

If you just want a card to hand out, go cheap, otherwise worth investing a tiny amount in thicker card and maybe a proper design.

A thumbs up for moo from me as well.

Good quality and the options are very good.

In 2007 I did a whole stationery redesign for my company (50/50 consulting/contracting) and ended up doing this in two stages:

Design: I used an American company, Logo Design Pros, and got some excellent ideas, including my website template images and the whole stationery package. I had to remind them twice though to ensure they designed to UK stationery specs.

Print: I use A Local Printer, might not be the cheapest option but I've never been unhappy with the quality or their responsiveness.

That process is probably too much for the typical contractor and goes way beyond what you'd ever need but if you're after a Plan B design route then I'd strongly recommend them.

doesn't your local railway or service station have a machine that can do this for you?

Seriously though: I've used printing.com several times for cards, leaflets and some other promo material and never had a problem with the quality, time scales or price

I'm trying to design myself a business card, but most of the skills I want to list are also trademarks. IBM, I series, Unix, Prince, etc.

Do you just put a 'TM' symbol on the card or what?

Why do you want to put those on a business card. It isn't a CV. Make yourself an A5 sales flyer if you want to sell your skills.

What are you wanting to put on, the name of the company or their logo. One will be ok as it is a name. The other is a Trademark logo (not ok)

I am sure you can list your skills as long as you are not falsely representing yourself as a specialist/partner or subsiduary type thing. You have IBM on you CV and don't think about it for example. Puting the logo on with no other explaination would not be a good idea as you are marketing yourself off the back of them. Listing a skill like SAP Business Objects Consultant should be ok. There was a thread about this awhile ago, or was it about putting those names in your LTD's which you can't do?

                  NOTE : Found it.

That's what I tend to go for. They're better for bespoke jobs. The big chains, especially the online ones, are more about "pick one of these designs".

                      Hi,
It depends if you want to throw them at every one you meet or if you are using them as a targeted tool. I used Castle Print in Newbury. They were very high quality and good guys to deal with. I think it cost me about £250 + vat for 1500 cards. I got them in 2004 and just got rid of my last ones this year. (but I don't hand them out like sweeties) I have not ordered myself a new batch yet.

The vista/moo/<pick one> stuff is Ok but I just don't want a card that advertises someone else on the other side.
