I took part in several projects where (in fact, I used to work at a comp specializing in) the aim was to rewrite something the Indians cocked up from scratch. In fact, I have yet to see a single project that went from start to finish, was finished on time and on budget which had maintainable code (ie: no talk of rewriting within 2 years) which was outsourced to India.Originally posted by pzz76077 View PostAgain, I dont know where you are coming from, the facts are that UK contract roles are being lost to outsouce/ICT's left right and centre. If you think that this has any bearing on your coding abilities, then you need to look at a much bigger picture. Coding is such an insignificant part of the deals I am working on, they are not worth mentioning.

Show me one major software used by everyone which was created in India.
You might be able to peddle your snake-oil to unsuspecting managers, but we already had the last laugh once.

Still the bottom line is that cheaper is better for most organizations.

Sorry, can't read drivel like "Focus on your core competencies." without severe nausea coming over me. As soon as this contract runs out, I will head to Eastern Europe to start a near-shoring consultancy, so I honestly hope the UK will outsource more and more to India.Originally posted by pzz76077 View PostHeres 7 argued reasons why you should worry: http://www.cio.com/article/146451/Se..._Your_Business
India is our greatest ally, just like Hitler was for Churchill.Comment

True. But it's probably close to the one the people currently doing the workj are getting paid. It's certainly within 10%-15% of it. It sure as hell isn't 40% of the current rate...Originally posted by MPwannadecentincome View PostHerein lies the problem, who defines what the market rate is for the role?Blog? What blog...?

There must be some loophole in the regulations that says nobody has to find out what people currently doing the work are getting paid, or insufficient number of people challenging the rate that has been nominated - hence the problem.Originally posted by malvolio View PostTrue. Fact: most ICT's are getting a day about what you would charge an hour.Originally posted by MPwannadecentincome View PostThere must be some loophole in the regulations that says nobody has to find out what people currently doing the work are getting paid, or insufficient number of people challenging the rate that has been nominated - hence the problem.
