I don't know about any blacklist, but you are now on my ignore list.

I though contractor blacklist would be a listing of agencies blacklisted by contractors.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

I wonder you might have written wrong phone/mobile number in your CV.

Work the phones man. Get on the blower and chase down every role hard hard hard. Emailing a cv and hoping for them to chase you? Might as well be pishing in the wind in the current market.
That's not working at present. They are just not taking or retrurning calls unless your cv is a spot on match.

Of course the state of the market has nothing to do with this?

I just realized : its a sockpuppet. A very good one too!

                Scenario 1:
Agent: Damn this contractor is good, very experienced and professional and he commands top notch rates. Got nothing solid for him at the moment but should have shortly but he is so good another agency will place him and get the commission before then!! *cries*

I know, I will get him blacklisted so no one but me will place him *evil laugh"

                Scenario 2:
Agent: Damn this contractor is crap and nearly cost me my client, I will never hire him again. But sod telling other agents, if he burns them I might pick up their clients!!!!

The above is why no inter-agency blacklist exists, as it would only contain good contractors

                  How do we detect sockpuppets?

I wonder if you could make a Plan B out of creating a blacklist service and selling it to agencies?

I actually asked a friend of mine that works at a top Manchester IT recruitment company the question as a friend and was told that they did not partake but are sure that it does exist!

If an agent fones you up and asks "have you had many calls from other positions" - never ever tell them as they are just fishing for leads, just tell them that your fresh on the market and only been looking this week, if they ask you "who shall we avoid" tell them the same and finally those that ask "how much will you work for", ask them what the jobs worth to the client!

These recruitment agencies need to be brought to their knees now and the only way to do it is to either lobby the government or to get wise to their practices ourselves... ps the government wont do anything at all ever so its up to us!

If I am indeed on a list of sorts I know the company and the person that put me on there and I will avenge this with very real actions!

To all my fellow contractors - be very carefull who you talk to and be even more carefull who you get on the wrong side of!

The world of databases and IT is both our living and sometimes our enemy and in the UK this is so very true as we live in the most surveillance society in the world - official!

                    Good luck out there!
