Just to add my 2p's worth.

There's no blacklist that I've come across in my 8 years in this industry. What I would say though, is that we're humans, and when we're bombarded by an individual, we do notice.

We will read the first application. We'll generally read the second. We'll perhaps read the third. When it gets to 4, we know who you are and what you do, so we'll skip over you.

Have to say, it's probably your attitude though. Give a little to take alot would work far better than give nothing and expect the earth.

So anyone looking for a role has two, at a push three, chances of ever getting anywhere with each agent. After that they are dead meat.

I am so thankful that I don't have to play this game any more.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Oh dear looks like the market is on a downer.

It's fairly normal in a very tough market that agents ignore you, but must admit when your sending 20 a day, day after day and no reply that's extreme, that's when you need to go permie. Don't believe in black lists, everyone is too busy, and in any case everyone knows people would get put on one just because of a petty conflict or a silly mistake so they wouldn't take it seriously.

I'm not too impressed with newbies resurrecting old threads.

          Just saying, like...

Why not? if I was searching this forum for "blacklist" I'd rather see 1 thread on the subject, however long-running, than be confronted with several with near-identical titles and have to guess or remember which one I wanted. Reuse is better than recycling. Don't reinvent the wheel. Waste not want not etc.

Yeah they should start a new thread "are there blacklists" and then we can tell them "stop being such a PITA and search the forum, if you can't do that are you sure you're cut out to be a contractor?"

I imagine if you're sending it an application once a day, tailored to each role, it's different to applying for 10 roles with the agency the same day with the same CV.

I can't imagine there would be such a blacklist, for a couple of reasons:
                    1. An agency would get into serious sh1te if they posted something negative about an individual
                    2. Who would maintain it?

Realistically I can believe that an individual agency might have a crib sheet which their pimps can utilise. And I can also believe that the pimp might take that list with him if he migrates elsewhere.

Besides, I reckon pimps don't need such a list (even if they were intelligent enough to use one). From a CV, if a contractor is doing lots of short-term contracts (3 months or less) that would probably tell a story. But with some 6+ month contracts in the mix he has probably been renewed for those gigs and is probably okay. Normally a client wouldn't renew a contractor who was useless.

I did some technical work on the blacklist for a shell company operating from the Dutch Antilles but ultimately run by a consortium of well known agencies. The day before my contract was up I saw my name on it - obviously I knew too much. So rather than whine and get shown the front door on the spot, I 'left the back door on the latch'. I still have access, so for £100, I can guarantee that anyone's is no longer on the list (if it already is).
