Not a great time to start an agency. 2010 maybe?

Actually that is quite true. Now I am rapidly approaching 40 years of age, 10 years in IT recruitment (admitedly for the same agency) I would not want to start in recruitment now. The new guy's we have coming to work in our new business team are so driven and forthright about everything, me I prefer the client lunches and contractor drinks!

So this is what its all about

I have taken verbal agreement from my references to supply their information to my future employer.

Amoria Bond (a bloody recruting agency!), called my reference to offer her some candidates, they refused to give their source of information so my reference went mad and called me asking if I gave her information to Amoria Bond... I have embarrassingly confirmed.

I stoped giving references after I gave them twice as I have noticed this pattern and now after reading this thread, I am happy that I did the right thing!

Just got a call about this while reading the thread!!!

I just got a call WHILE reading this thread.

The agent has requirments that fits my skills and for the other parts that don't fit, the company will do a training for me so no worries! Even the location of the company is happend to be near my home. (Agents are more creative now).

The company works in defense so he can't give me much information about the type of projects involved and they require the referrals from my team leaders in previous roles. I had to tell him sorry I can't and to turn this brilliant job down!

            How pathetic!!!

Just had the following in response to a Jobserve ad that caught my eye. Pasted it with spelling intact from original, name changed to protect the ignorant....

Thank you very much for expressing your interest in the Project Manager role that we are currently recruiting for. We have had a fantastic response for this role and I will endeavour to be in touch with you within 72 hours. To speed up our recruitment process for this role, please could you respond to the following questions:
Is your strength in the delivery of Software / Applications or Infrastructure projects?
Have you deliver projects to external clients/customers?
What 3 industries would you say you have the most experience of working in?
What is the biggest budget you have managed?
What is your current/previous salary? What is your minimum salary you would accept?
Which geographical locations can you consider?
                    What is your notice period?
To avoid any confusion in the recruitment process and to ensure we aren't duplicating are efforts, please could you state the names of any companies that your CV has been sent to recently or where you are currently involved in an interview process.
As part of XXXXXX Computer Personnel's 'working to best practice' policy, we reference check all our candidates on behalf of our clients as part of our agreed SLA's. By giving us the names of two referees, you are in effect confirming your CV to be accurate in its detail. Please could you let me have the names of two referees and their Job title/company name that you would use? (Please note, no referee will be contacted without your prior permission)
I look forward to your responses and for moving forward with your application.

Sounds like a cast-iron guarantee to me. Safe as houses. A banker.
