What a load of idiots you all are with your this and that. Stop wasting everyone's time with your garbage. I just wasted 30 seconds of my life going through this thread hoping to see an update on the initial post, and all I got was your rubbish.

Awaiting the second meeting with a lot at stake - don't really want to be looking around right now, but said I'd be prepared to walk.

So - 10 toothtrimmed fingernails later, still waiting on The Man.

Not being greedy, but at the end of the day I have to respect myself and I wouldn't be happy with less, given the extra effort I'm putting in.

This thread is for those who are 'nervously awaiting' feedback on contracts, rates and the like.
So what happened then? They called your bluff?

You do have a point - would be happy for the mods to delete the garbage.

Anyway - found out what my predecessor was on - thought I knew before, but was about 20% above what I thought.

Had the meeting with the client rep - he made it clear I'm not going to get what was paid to the last bloke, and that's fair to an extent, as he was a lot more experienced and had a few years on me in the role. So I stuck to a reasonable figure that's still 25% up from my current rate. Client rep said he'd consider it and get back to me.

Had another meeting with his boss - stated my bottom-line, asked if I would walk for less (not in those words), said yes without hesitating - told him what the market rates are, talked about the extra responsibilities, and assured him I wouldn't leave them in the lurch and would train someone up.

Still, it feels like I'm playing chicken with an articulated lorry. If they don't pay what I'm asking they're taking the piss - and I'll walk without a shred of guilt - I see jobs every day for the same workload at 1.5x the rate, why wouldn't I? (Although the impending wedding and associated costs are a bit scary - it would be nice to have a bit of stability at this time)

Are they thinking the same thing?

I doubt it - it's a major organisation we're talking about here - they could replace me even if it meant getting someone in who has to train for the next 3 months - the worst it would mean is for their timelines to slip by 2/3 months.
