    SC clearance questions

Do SC take a look at your CV?

I was working for a company that was not registered and was registered 9months after my time with them. I did not get paid once, I was simply there to learn the trade following NDA by the individual running the company. Attending few days weekly for the last year. The family friend who agreed to teach me the trade. On a pure voluntary basis.

I placed this on my CV and explained the situation to what I did to my potential employers. I wanted to show the passion I have for the role/industry. They were fine so long as I pass the rigorous stages of the interview process. Which I did.

will I need to place this down on my SC application? even though I placed it on my CV to boost my opportunities.
I have all the other relevant verified work experiences and qualifications to pass hence why I’m in this situation to apply for SC.

bearing in mind I was not employed received no pay whatsoever from this now organisation.

    Many thanks on your response

I’m not clear about your post.
are you saying that you lied on your CV?

if you did what you said you did then I can’t see that there is a problem here, payment or no payment.

I suspect your CV is/was not 100% clear on the engagement, perhaps to the point of being disingenuous, and that's why you're now a bit worried/asking the question here.

No-one call tell you what any individual SC will look at, so just provide all the information asked for and tell the truth. If it turns out you've done something a bit awry on your CV and it impacts your application, I guess that's just something you'll have to live with (but you might never know for sure). If you decide to leave some information out, and that's something that impacts your application, I guess that's just something you'll have to learn from (but you might never know for sure).

Personally, I don't see why doing free work to enhance your experience should be looked upon in a negative light, particularly from an SC perspective, but I'm not the one doing the SC.

As with every SC question, including all the ones in the read first before asking about SC thread https://forums.contractoruk.com/busi...questions.html

If you worked with an employer/client put it down. They are looking for honesty and integrity. Start missing stuff off, even if you think it didn't need to be there then you'll be failing that test.

Answer everything as honestly and openly as you can even if it's too much info and let them decide.

my CV names the clients I worked for.
My SC application has a company and a person for every role I have done in the requested period (5 years?). Sometimes they are different. Neither are a lie. Never been a problem.

For a start the SC people need to be able to contact someone and oftentimes that person no longer works there. So that might not match.

No I’m saying do I need to put working with a individual as part of this or the organisation if it was unpaid work.

if I place this into a scenario it’s like me working with you. You are showing me procedures. Now you build an organisation. I’ve placed it down that I’ve worked with the person and organisation for a substantial time even before it was formed. And explain it to my employers

note this organisation is nothing in size or reputation compared to the global ones I’ve worked with

I’d just like to know whether it’s worth me placing this as technically I’ve never even worked there. I took time out to gain certifications and further knowledge on the procedures and processes

yes every employer I plan to put down. Just one I didn’t work with an employer I worked with an individual who became an organisation. I placed down on my CV I worked with that person and now company ….. but explained to my employers this was all unpaid work to gain further knowledge

they were fine and I’m at this stage now but will I need to put this down on the SC application. I mean if they look at my CV then surely I must. But if not I can put down all verified. Employers along with individual references.

If it's relevant put it in. People put work experience on their CV's in the early days. Just put what you did there that is relevant to the role you are going for (or your career path in general). You could put (unpaid) after the role title if you want to be really clear but apart from that just treat it like another job.

If you miss it out and rely on something you did there for SC or your interview/role it's gonna get awkward.

neither mine or anything on my CV is a lie all my clients are contactable.even the unpaid work

I just want to know what would I put for that particular time period. That I worked with an individual for X amount of time and then it established itself after X amount of me working with this individual. All unpaid work ? or do I just leave it and proceed with all my other clients I’ve worked with

I think I’ll put the individual saying worked with individual for X amount then company owned by individual for X amount and put all unpaid work.

                    if that makes sense?

it didn’t really matter within the interview process as each stage was technical based on my ability.
