Do the experienced guys really use jobserve and the likes?
I've used it once for my first gig and ever since then it has been from contacts i've made on permie/contract jobs in the past or connections i've maintained with the good recruiters/agencies.Comment

Every gig in 10 years from it. I've lost count the number of times I'm not available when my networks need me or they've not had work when I'm free. Like ships in the night on the networking front so far.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!Comment

I've had the odd bit of repeat work, but mostly it's through the job boards, and LinkedIn connections (agents, not work related contacts)Comment

Ditto.
And anyway, when one is ready, why not attack all routes simultaneously? Contacts, LinkedIn, job boards. It is all one and the same to me and then, it is just a case of picking whatever comes in first.
As an aside, for me at least, job boards might at least offer an element of variety not otherwise likely from contacts asking you to come back.Comment

I thought I would make one of my rare inspections of one of the northern chap's posts. This bearing in mind he is firmly on my Ignore List due to far too much omni-present yappiness.
Seems I wasn't disappointed and his responses are still very much redundant, and as all-pervasive as they have ever been.
My dear man, the OP wasn't asking for a definition of Networking, nor how it is supposed to work by whatever variant definition you might have for something already long understood by the majority of the cognitive world.
He was asking for a way in, or a way forward. I believe I responded in kind.
That said, if your response was solely to cover your need to add random words to Every post on this forum, then I guess you've succeeded.
Back to Ignore!Comment
