    Shift work for developers?
Sounds like they have won a major contract that they are doing on the cheap. Also sounds like they are killing staff!

Indian consultancy, happens all the time. Usually cos the client is based in UK, Europe etc so they work shifts to make sure they have cover during business hours. They also are forced to work stupid hours. Not right of course but it's nothing new.

I applied to a couple of roles a few years ago and not a sniff. Not even an acknowledgement that I had applied.

In fact this is opening some old wounds for me. In the team close to the one I was helping, the scrum master had a rubber horn, no joke. If somebody was late for the standup he'd sound the horn when they arrived! Not only that but he took great delight in throwing a ball at the assembled circle of participants in a random fashion, to signal their turn. WTF?! Next up the kanban board, or should I say 'information radiator'.

Think I may need some counselling to get over all this!!
If a scrum master threw a ball at me they would be using that rubber horn to summon the nurse to change their bedpan.

It matters to everyone. Amazon are an employer of choice and their staff are well regarded. You may be in a contract but there will be another 30k piranhas in the tank when you are looking for another.

I am still being bombarded by Indian agencies looking for Scala and Spark developers for a banking client.

The only thing that has changed is the rate has dropped from £400 pd inside IR35 to £300 pd.

The job description doesn't mention experience level, so its a ok salary for a Junior developer with just few years experience.

Now if they are getting people like you with 20+ years experience applying then they are lucking out..

This is why so many Junior developers cant find work, its not just AI, its is out of work Senior Developers stealing their roles.
