    It's an annoying anomaly, true.

You want someone that's highly skilled in a specific area yet you allow them to sub in billy nobody when they get bored and take another gig elsewhere...

Maybe it was not designed to be a working framework in the first place…

The irony is that a group of redittors on /wsb that refer to themselves as “apes”, “retards” and “creyon eatters” managed to corner the market and beat hedgefunds at their own game. (Up to a point)

And we have fully fledged professionals with years of experience and skills that require ability and dedication that are being pushed into corners and told their worth by sleezy sales people without education.

it’s because people still belive that the market is free and social contract still works for them. They’ll have a crude awakening in a few years…

Came here to find a community of established professionals and you are welcomed by wife sharing, uber driving, porridge eating, radiator bleeding characters. Some of them looking with envy at amazon warehouse workers doing 600pw. Then there is me...

            you have options
you aren't being forced to stay here.
you could go back to the EE utopia you came from.

I'm sitting tight in a perm position at the moment. Appreciate some of you might not like that but I need to pay the bills somehow. However, market's really picking back up for what I do (software dev). I think I'm going to give it a month or two then dive back in.

I may be reading it wrong but it looks to be nearly as busy as what it was when I was in the thick of it (2 years ago).

I think that you have to do what works best for you. There's absolutely no shame in taking a perm role. It's often a smart move either to ride out periods of uncertainty or to gain entry into a target sector, get some training paid, etc etc.

It does feel like there's some optimism. Companies still need to get stuff done and for that they still need to hire people with the required know-how.
