Do you really think they know how to work an auto filter/rule?

Yes. It's so easy you could manage.

Any good pimp would appreciate people applying in these circumstances. May be inappropriate for gig applying for, but said pimp now has details of a number of people to hand for other roles in future, thus doesn't have to externally advertise.

Then again, pimps and common sense don't go too well together.

Some do this but they tend to be more mature and run their own companies.

Nine applications - one phone call back - selected by client for technical test

Should take 2 hours - took 3 hours due to them using old tech and having forgot bits - submitted.

Usually wouldn’t be interested in gig using anything other than latest tech but not really the time to be picky and it’s fully remote.

See what happens - good to have some response from the market.

You're giving pimps way too much credit. You really think they keep the details at hand of people who have spammed them with applications?

For the general market (not necessarily high end/head hunters) pimps are transactional in nature - job opportunity appears from client, do key word search on their database, do keyword search on job boards, do keyword search on linked in, choose a few with the best keyword matching, speak to those few about availability, get CVs from those that are, review those CVs (again, throw in a keyword search), submit a subset to the client, go buy some hair gel and wait.

Working with several recruiters to hire people recently, I'm fairly confident that most agents, whilst sympathetic to people in the current climate, don't appreciate being inundated with hundred of pointless, ill fitting candidate CVs. Assuming they are using an ATS system, they simply ignore the vast majority of CVs. There isn't time to look at more than a very small sample. If say, they get 300-500 applicants for an online advertised role, they might pick the 20 top rated to read. And read for about 30 seconds each.

Apart from hot skill sets and hard to fill/niche roles, most individual agents already have many thousands of personal contacts. Big national agencies have databases of hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of CVs. They are not generally short of CVs and I personally would think more highly of candidates who target their search better rather than apply for every vacancy under the sun, even in the terrible market we have now.

In my experience the 'uninteresting' ones can end up being fun, and the 'fun'/big name/tech ones can be awful... go for it then decide :-)
